This week, the ADMIRABLE Research Group at the Universidad de Burgos organised the seminar “Applications of Precise Face and Human Body Localization in Images”, delivered by José Miguel Buenaposada, Full Professor at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and member of the ELLIS Unit Madrid.
The seminar focused on recent advances in computer vision related to the precise localisation of faces and human bodies in images and video, an increasingly relevant research area with applications across multiple AI domains. During the talk, José Miguel presented how facial landmark detection and 3D orientation estimation techniques are enabling more robust and accurate visual understanding systems.
Particular attention was given to the application of these methods to real-world problems such as deepfake detection, human action estimation, and driver behaviour analysis. The session also explored how recent developments in the field can contribute to improving both the reliability and interpretability of modern computer vision systems.
José Miguel also shared recent results from the PCR Research Group, demonstrating how the integration of these techniques can enhance the precision and computational efficiency of advanced models based on Video Transformers. The seminar provided an excellent opportunity for discussion and knowledge exchange, further strengthening collaboration within the Spanish AI research community.
