iRoboCity2030 Summer School 2026: ROS 2, AI and Field Robotics

The iRoboCity2030 Summer School 2026: “ROS 2, AI and Field Robotics” will take place from 22 to 26 June 2026 at the University of Alcalá (UAH) in Madrid. Delivered entirely in English, the five-day on-site programme is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students from around the world and provides an intensive introduction to the technologies underpinning the next generation of intelligent and autonomous robotic systems.

The programme combines theoretical foundations with hands-on experience, covering topics such as ROS 2 fundamentals, autonomous vehicles, quadrupedal robots, agricultural robotics, and robotics in natural environments. Participants will have the opportunity to work with both real and simulated robotic platforms while attending plenary lectures by leading experts, including Steve Macenski (OpenNavigation) on Nav2 and Davide Faconti on BehaviorTrees.CPP and Groot. A social and networking programme will also encourage interaction among students and researchers.

The summer school is organised by Professor Luis Miguel Bergasa Pascual, member of ELLIS Unit Madrid, and reflects the Unit’s commitment to advancing education and research in artificial intelligence and robotics. By bringing together internationally recognised speakers and practical training in state-of-the-art technologies, the initiative offers participants a valuable opportunity to develop skills at the intersection of AI, autonomous systems, and field robotics.
