In May 2025, Rubén Tolosana and Rubén Vera-Rodríguez, both professors at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and members of ELLIS Unit Madrid, served on the organizing committee of the 1st International Workshop on Foundation, Multimodal Large Language and Generative Models for Face and Gesture Recognition (FM&LLM&GM2025). The workshop was held as part of the 19th IEEE International Conference on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition (FG) in Clearwater, Florida, USA.
The event addressed the growing impact of foundation models, multimodal large language models, and generative models on the field of face and gesture recognition. By bringing together researchers from different disciplines, the workshop fostered discussion on challenges, opportunities, and applications of these technologies, including synthetic data generation, explainability, emotion recognition, and advanced biometric systems.
