Two New Researchers Join ELLIS Unit Madrid, Strengthening Its AI Community

The ELLIS Unit Madrid is delighted to announce the incorporation of two new members, further strengthening our growing community of leading researchers in artificial intelligence. This milestone reflects the continued expansion of the Unit, which is consolidating its role as a key reference for AI research and innovation across the Madrid region.

We warmly welcome Vanessa Gómez Verdejo from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, a machine learning researcher working at the intersection of signal processing and Bayesian methods, with a strong focus on interpretability and healthcare applications. Her work contributes to the development of trustworthy and transparent AI systems, particularly in sensitive domains where reliability and explainability are essential.

We also welcome Miguel Ángel Fernández-Torres from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, whose research spans computer vision, image and video analysis, and multimedia processing. His expertise includes machine learning, deep learning, and explainable artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on remote sensing and AI applications for Earth observation and climate science.

With these new additions, the ELLIS Unit Madrid continues to grow as a vibrant and collaborative hub for cutting-edge AI research, reinforcing its position as a leading reference in artificial intelligence for the entire Madrid region.
